Saint Johnsbury, Vermont and surrounding areas known as Northeast Kingdom

Our timing to the Kingdom was perfect.  This week is their Annual Fall Foliage Festival bringing a piece of "old Vermont" to life for visitors with local crafts, hymn sings, band concerts, and church suppers. Each community has their day for hosting.

Moose River Campground

Dog Mountain
There is no leash law on Dog Mountain. Dogs are not just welcome here, they are cherished! Dogs are free to run, play, swim and best of all meet other dogs! The 150-acre complex includes the famous Dog Chapel, hiking trails, a swimming pond, and art gallery featuring Stephen Huneck’s work.  Inside the chapel visitors leave colorful notes and photos of pets they have lost .

Look for the 2 crosses sticking out above the trees.

A Bicycle Tree

Tonight's supper was Roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, veggies, rolls and home-baked pies in Walden.

OK, we are now officially "Leaf Peepahs"

We visited the Bird Man

He makes birds using the Old World folk art of fan carving.

Tonight's supper was turkey with all the fixings finished off with vanilla ice cream topped with maple syrup in the little town of Cabot.
Each night we enjoyed visiting with the locals.  They all tells us we picked a great year.  That the fall foliage is exceptional this year.

  2. We stayed at Moose River Campground. The owners were the friendliest and most helpful we have found. She loaded us down with handouts of what to do in the area and most of it was free. She personally had gone around to all the points of interest in the area and made a very detailed list including hours and step by step directions. It also suggested an order to go in so that you arrived at the places that gave out sample at lunch time. :)
