Utah to California - Road trip #33 comes to a close

Road trip #33 comes to an end

Dropped the Jeep off for some needed repairs

With how crazy things have gotten in the world we thought it best to be home and off the road until after the election.

We had a great time, saw lots of beautiful places and had great weather. We did have a few minor Jeep problems but we were never left stranded on a trail.

Due to Covid there were a lot more RVer's on the road.  RV Parks were full, but most had figured out how to have you do a self check in.  Several nights we had 1st time RVer's next to us.  Many didn't know how to hook up their sewer or light their hot water heaters.

Interesting facts

This time we were gone 91 nights  OR  2 months and 30 days,

Took 6,751 pictures,

Drove 3,089 Motorhome miles,

&  5,283 Jeep miles

This overlook is the only viewpoint in the National Park from where the Colorado River can be seen vertically below.  The overlook stands 3,000 feet above the river.

The volcanic cinder cones and lava flows in this ancestral home of the Southern Paiute people make this area unique.

This is the largest rapid on 300 miles of the park's Colorado River.
Doesn't look like much from 3,000 feet above.

Even the outhouse has a great view

The Kaibab squirrel lives in ponderosa pine forests where it builds its nest out of twigs and pine needles.  Kaibab squirrels usually have a black belly (which is sometimes gray), white tail, tufted ears and chestnut brown head.  The tufts on the ears grow longer with age and may extend 1 to 2 inches above the ears in the winter, and may not be visible in the summer.

Elephants, Virgins and Things Trail

Riding the elephant

Overlooking the Virgin River

It wasn't our most scenic lunch spot, but we let our imagination run wild trying to figure out what happened with this car

Sinkhole

The weather turned cold and windy overnight.

On the way to our air down spot we could see white caps on the reservoir.

We reached the air down spot and decided to call it quits for the day.

What a difference a day can make with the weather.  Headed out to run Razzle Dazzle Trail.
