Miles across Texas

We didn't have to move very far and the signs changed from Watch for Alligators to Watch for Snakes

Street legal?  Can you say Pimp my ride?

Diesel and Texas BBQ from Buc-ee's in Baytown

Not sure if this is good advise or not

Seguin, Texas
Seguin is a community rich in history and culture. Founded in 1838 by Texas Rangers and named in honor of Colonel Juan Seguin, a political and military figure of the Texas Revolution, it is one of the oldest cities in the State of Texas.

Cattleman's Steakhouse at Indian Cliffs Ranch in Fabens, Texas

Cattleman's Steakhouse is a large, family-style restaurant on a working ranch. Enjoy a western atmosphere, miles of desert scenery and spectacular sunsets!

Take a journey back in time and see the Southwest as it once was before the invention of asphalt and concrete. Indian Cliffs has a beauty that goes beyond breathtaking... a lake, a zoo, an aviary, exotic animals, a maze, a playground... along with Old West memorabilia including an antique wagon collection, a western town, old working stable areas... and all viewable by taking the many walking trails and dirt roads scattered across the ranch.

Located near the Butterfield Trail, there's even the ruins of a stagecoach stop in near proximity to the ranch. The Butterfield Trail, running the Butterfield Overland Mail, dates as far back as 1858 carrying mail and passengers across this rugged terrain of mountains and desert.

A great steak dinner

The walls are covered with the property's history.   In fact, many legendary movies have been shot at Indian Cliffs Ranch.

Lake Charles, Louisiana

Crossing over the Mississippi River

Crossing over Lake Charles on the Calcasieu River Bridge.  The bridge has a vertical clearance
 of 135 feet

The Calcasieu River passes by the RV Park

Wood Ducks nest in these 55 gallon drums

From prairies and coastal marshlands to the sunbaked beaches of Louisiana’s Gulf Coast.  Stretching along 26 miles of scenic shoreline south of Lake Charles, past scenic lakes and through three national wildlife refuges, the Creole Nature Trail offers an all-in-one route to birding, crabbing, fishing, shelling, and wildlife watching.

Gulf of Mexico

You can still see signs of all the massive destruction from the past hurricanes.  Seems like the hurricanes happen faster than they can rebuild.

Near the Gulf, the combination of fresh and saltwater provides a unique habitat with intertwining ecosystems of coastland and marshland.

The Cameron Ferry crosses the Calcasieu Ship Channel, which connects the Intracoastal Waterway to the Gulf of Mexico.  Be on the lookout for porpoises playing!

Drive your vehicle right on board...50 foot maximum length per vehicle.
As we waited on the ferry we were entertained by the porpoises.

Birds and a porpoise in the distance

Cold, rainy lunch at the beach

We didn't get any pictures, but we did see lots of different birds, porpoises, beaver, nutria and small alligators.

Thanksgiving dinner at Landry's Seafood.  They offered a traditional turkey dinner, but we opted for seafood.  Dave had the Mixed Grill which was tilapia, crawfish, stuffed shrimp, broiled shrimp, scallops & a crab cake over dirty rice.  I had Fettuccine with blackened shrimp & a creole alfredo sauce.  Everything was delicious.
