It felt like we escorted the storm into San Diego.  Four days of driving in non stop rain.

A big thanks to everyone who hosted us, fed us and or gave us great sight seeing advise.

We were gone 86 nights OR 2 months & 25 days

We are unsure of the Motorhome miles driven on this trip because we arrived home with fewer miles than we started with.  Apparently we had what Freightliner refers to as a failure to communicate.

Rainy fall drive

For nearly a half-century,  K & R Drive Inn at Rice Hill has been a can't-miss stop on I-5 for ice cream lovers of all ages.  Serving over 35 flavors for over 35 years.  They sell over 2,500 tubs of ice cream a year.  That's 7,260 gallons!

They do an average of 12,150 shakes a year.  That's 13,668 pounds of milk shakes a year.

Lunch at Steamboat Inn

The wooden 12 foot diameter Toketee Pipeline built in 1949 diverts much of the North Umpqua River to a powerhouse downstream. This artificial taming of the river allows the waterfall to flow in an extremely consistent manor all year long.

Hiking out to Toketee Falls

Toketee Falls is one of the most famous waterfalls in all of Oregon, renowned far and wide for the graceful columnar basalt formation framing the two-stepped falls. The North Umpqua River has carved a sinuous gorge out of the lava flow, resulting in a waterfall of 113 feet.   A 28 foot upper tier which plunges into a pool, followed by an 85 foot plunge into a large pool.

Spent a couple of Saturday nights at the local Auction.  We mostly did a lot of people watching and only bought a few small things.

After many years of visiting family in this area we finally went to Wildlife Safari 

We were impressed at the many different animals they had.  

Wildlife Safari is home to over 500 animals.

They have one of the top cheetah breeding facilities in the world.
