ALBANY HISTORIC CAROUSEL AND MUSEUM

Founded in 2004, the Historic Carousel and Museum is working to preserve and restore the 1909 Dentzel carousel mechanism, acquired through a donation arranged by the Dentzel family through the National Carousel Association.  Creating a world class carousel complex in downtown Albany that will draw visitors from around the world and contribute to the economic revitalization of historic downtown Albany.  With 52 hand-carved and painted animals the carousel will provide wholesome family fun for all ages when completed in 2016.  The project is a group of talented community volunteers working over 152,000 recorded hours to create something special. No experience is required to volunteer.  Simply bring a desire to learn something new, to contribute to the community, to meet new friends, and to have lots of fun!  Join us as we carve and paint our way into carousel history, as well as into the hearts and imagination of all that visit our studio.  Admission to the carousel studio and museum is free so come and enjoy the carousel.
