Logandale, Nevada

Along the way we overnighted in Beaver, Utah

The Creamery is a dairy destination with a story to tell and that story begins in 1952. They serve as a stopping place for road warriors and a retreat for local families.
After dinner we walked over to the Creamery for some ice cream

We made a pit stop in Cedar City, Utah for Diesel and groceries and were surprised to see a lighthouse
Standing at 88 feet tall, developers claimed the Cedar City Providence Center Lighthouse was the tallest inland lighthouse in the United States when constructed in 2000. The lighthouse is 450 miles away from the nearest ocean, it's never guided any ships, and it doesn't have a lighthouse keeper.   There are quite a few rumors claiming they know why or how the lighthouse was built. One story says that it was built in preparation for a big earthquake when California may drop off into the ocean, at which time the lighthouse in Cedar City, Utah will be the only lighthouse standing on the 'new' Pacific Coast of the United States.  Hahaha

Little Finland
Also known as Devil's Fire or Hobgoblin's Playground, Little Finland is the unofficial name of a remote area in the Mojave Desert near the north end of Lake Mead, within Gold Butte National Monument, where a plateau of red/orange Aztec sandstone has been heavily eroded into amazingly complex and intricate forms.

I thought this one looked like someone was watching us

Devils Throat
The largest sinkhole in Gold Butte National Monument.  In the early 1900's a cowboy and miners working in the area were amazed by a cloud of dust that suddenly rose from the desert flat as the sinkhole opened up.  Devils Throat is now about 110-120 feet wide, and it continues to widen as the rim erodes and caves in.  Per flew his drone down 80 feet to the bottom.

The Cabins
These three cabins were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (C.C.C.) soon after the state park opened in 1935.  They are constructed of native sandstone and were used for many years to shelter campers and travelers visiting the park.

Each cabin had a fireplace

Mouse's Tank Trailhead
Mouse’s Tank is named for a Southern Paiute Indian renegade (“Little Mouse”) who used Valley of Fire as a hideout in the 1890s after he was accused of killing two prospectors and other crimes in the area.  There are excellent examples of prehistoric petroglyphs on the trail.
