As soon as Dave saw the bike riders he said "do you want to do that tomorrow"?  While I was thinking about it here comes a lady with her feet off the pedals, wobbling totally out of control. Shortly after passing us she crashed.  I didn't have to think about it anymore. I said "No, but you go ahead".

The harshest environment on Pikes Peak. Even the trees do not grow here.  There are some hardships trees can not endure, like moisture robbing winds, sub-zero temperatures, massive snow packs and thin soil.

Katharine Lee Bates conceived the words to 
"America the Beautiful" 
on July 22, 1893, in Colorado Springs after visiting Pikes Peak that day




Our timing was perfect.  As soon as we got our pictures the clouds came rolling in.
