The Adventure begins California to Ouray, Colorado

Ouray, Colorado 
 Nicknamed "Switzerland of America" the San Juan Mountains of southwest Colorado may be the best place in America to explore in a 4-wheel drive

Tomboy Trail head is at the end of a narrow residential street.

 Remains of Tomboy Townsite in Savage Basin. Once a rich producer of gold. One of the most active mining towns in Colorado.  At one time 900 people lived in Savage Basin.  The mine opened in 1880. In 1897 it sold for 2 million dollars. Tomboy closed in 1927.
