Located at an elevation of 11,335 feet, Holy Cross City was a gold mining camp that was expected to boom when it first developed in 1880 with a peak population of 300. However, low quality ore, expensive processing, and brutal winters turned the camp into a ghost town by 1884.
Two birds spotted us as soon as we arrived. They continued to get closer and closer. One even stole the last bite of Dave's sandwich as he went to put it in his mouth.
After lunch we continued up the trail to check out Cleveland Rocks. It is the final and most challenging obstacle on the trail, which is really a "rock buggy obstacle".
