Morrison Jeep Trail - Clark, Wyoming

Only 8 miles left to go

I wonder if we would have less rocks if we had followed the speed limit?

Getting ready to hit the trail.  Nice camping right at the trailhead, no commute.

It was so windy last night and after seeing how they have this sign board anchored down it must be windy here often.

Clark Fork of the Yellowstone River

Morrison Jeep Trail
The Morrison Trail starts in the Clarks Fork Canyon, WY. and has been in existence since the late 1800's. The trail used to be a mountain path that was made by Nez Perce Tribe, one of the most powerful in the area. According to some accounts, in 1877 the tribe was hiding in Clarks Fork River Canyon. Chief Joseph led Nez Percé on the trail to escape the U.S. Army.

The trail starts somewhere around 4,500 feet and tops out at 10,177 feet and is 22 miles long.

First of  28 switchbacks.  This trail is not for long-wheel base vehicles or the faint of heart.

Keep right

The Morrison Trail goes across the Beartooth Mountains and connects with the Beartooth Highway.    It is very beautiful country to enjoy.

We're getting rain drops

We heard Yellowstone was playing.  Did anyone bring popcorn?

Top Lake

People have had a lot of time stopped here waiting for the pilot car.

We're going to take it slower on the way out.

  1. Dry camped at the trailhead. Hot and windy. No gas near by, come full. Best to limit it to 5 jeeps.
