The historical Salt Tram Tender's Cabin

Just missed some of local Jeepin buddies by nine days.

The Saline Valley Salt Tram Summit Station is at the highest point of the historical salt transportation tram running from Saline Valley to Owens Valley.

The Saline Valley Salt Tram was built in 1911 and 1912 to carry salt from Saline Valley to Owens Valley. In its 13½ mile length it rose from an elevation of 1,100 feet at the east terminal to 8,720 feet at the crest of the Inyo Range and dropped to 5,000 feet at the west terminal.

The first of Bill's two flat tires

Turns out this accident had happened in mid June and everyone was OK.  If you want to read more about it you can go to Boondockercamping.com and look under misadventures.

Cerro Gordo Mine

The Hills have eyes

The historic American Hotel, built in 1871, the Crapo House and the Ice House at Cerro Gordo burned down in what is thought to have been an electrical fire on Monday, June 15, 2020.

An ore bucket still suspended from the aerial tramway.
