Colorado Springs, Colorado

Pikes Peak RV Park
Manitou Springs

The railway was started by Zalmon Simmons, inventor and founder of the Simmons Beautyrest Mattress Company. The company was founded in 1889 and limited service to the Halfway House Hotel was started in 1890. On June 30, 1891, the first train reached the summit.  With a summit elevation of 14,110 feet above sea level the Manitou & Pike's Peak Railway is the highest railway in North America and the World's highest Cog Railway.  This line was the third and last Cog Railroad to be built in the United States.

Old Colorado City, formerly Colorado City, was once a town, but it is now a neighborhood within the city of Colorado Springs. Its commercial district is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was founded during the Pikes Peak Gold Rush of 1859 and was involved in the mining industry, both as a supply hub and as a gold ore processing center beginning in the 1890's.

  1. Pikes Peak RV Park 320 Manitou Ave, Manitou Springs Space #10 719-685-9459 $72.28 w/tax
Sites are small, shared pedestals, our sewer ran uphill.

RV Parks are expensive in this area. Good alternative could be Woodland Park.
