Penawawa Canoe
This canoe was found in a field near Penawawa Creek 30 miles downriver from the Spalding visitor center. It was probably in use in the early 1900s. This canoe is made from a single Douglas Fir tree. It is designed to be propelled by one person sitting in the stern using either a pole or a paddle. Given the size of the canoe, it could be used for fishing, ferrying goods and passengers or for long distance travel.
