Silverton Colorado

We started our trip out on Tuesday morning with an unexpected trip to TCI Tires. On Saturday while washing the motorhome Dave bumped the valve stem and heard pssst so of course he tried it again pssst. So here we are getting it fixed before hitting the road.

We thought it was funny that they didn't give us the free key chain that makes you aware of all the trains that will be passing by in the night until after we were registered and paid in full.
Turns out they didn't keep us awake

We had gotten a recommendation from our friend Barry to try Westside Lilo's Cafe for the best carrot cake he has ever had.  Watching the meals be delivered we wished we had come for dinner too.
We also have another recommendation from our neighbor Gregg to try the Roadkill Grill across the street from Westside Lilo's for a great meal.

Stony Pass Trail
The trail crosses the Continental Divide through an area rich in mining history.  Stony Pass was once a major supply route between Del Norte and Silverton.  In 1882, the narrow gauge railroad was completed into Silverton and Stony Pass was abandoned.

Made the turn towards Kite Lake

Is that what we think it is in the road?

Yep those are bones of what we think was an Elk
