Devils Tower rises above the surrounding grassland and Ponderosa pine forests like a rocky sentinel. Northern Plains Tribes have lived and held ceremonies near this remarkable geologic formation for thousands of years.
The most popular hike in the park is the paved, 1.3-mile Tower Trail. A short, steep section leads to you a junction that you can take either way to walk around the base of the Tower. The trail goes through ponderosa pine forest and the boulder field.
Can you spot the climbers?
Traveling to Wyoming to visit relatives, I came here a few times as a child. My brother stayed busy all day trying to catch a Prairie dog to take back home with us.
In Aladdin, Wyoming, a 118-year-old General Store is still in operation. On its porch, a historic “Liar’s Bench” still sits. The best preserved of Wyoming's five remaining 19th-century mercantiles.
While the store's stock has probably changed a bit over the years, not much else has. The interior woodwork, cabinetry, windows and peeling wallpaper upstairs are all original. The roll-top storage bins behind the counter are original and old scribbled prices on them bear proof of inflation over the years.
Aladdin isn’t a ghost town.
Anyone interested in owning their own town?

A natural sink hole that was used by various Plains Indian tribes as a bison trap from about 1550 through 1800. The layers of well preserved bones and artifacts found in the buffalo jump give archaeologists a unique view into a time of rapid changes in Plains Indian culture.

We stayed at Mountain View RV park in Sundance. Wifi only worked in the laundry room.
