Da Vinci: The Genius brings to life Leonardo da Vinci as an inventor, artist, scientist, anatomist, engineer, architect, sculptor and philosopher. This amazing exhibition provides fascinating insight into not only the mind of a genius, but the fundamental scientific and artistic principles that he discovered. You will enjoy life-size machine inventions, including the first automobile concepts, bicycle, helicopter, glider, parachute, Scuba, submarine, military tanks and much more. This was one of those things that Dave really wanted to see and I was just tagging along.  Wow was I surprised.  We both  really enjoyed it.

This is where our motorhome was made.  So we can't go to Alabama without stopping by.  At the Service Center they have a wonderful retail store with everything we could need.

Since 1988, Tom Hendrix has been building a thick, low, snaky wall out of 8.5 million pounds of individual rocks to honor his great-great-grandmother.

This is an amazing stone wall constructed single-handedly. His great great grandmother was a 14-year old Euchee Indian girl who was forcibly moved along with thousands of others to an Oklahoma reservation during the early 1800s. From the reservation she ran away and traveled alone all the way back to her homeland in North Alabama. The stone wall is Hendrix's tribute to her and to all Native American women.

This Shoe Tree is on the north side of U.S. Highway 72 about 4 miles west of Cherokee, Alabama and 4 miles west of the Mississippi border.
