Home Depot Gas stations - Who knew?
They have locations in Tennessee and Georgia
We stayed at the Marina in Winchester, just outside of Lynchburg.
There are over 10,700 acres and 265 miles of scenic shoreline on Tim's Ford Lake. Located in a rural area, Tim's Ford is known as one of the cleanest and deepest lakes in the mid-south.
The marina offers lakeside cabins, pontoon boat rentals and RV parking.
Once we saw that the BBQ Championship was going on in Lynchburg there was no stopping us.
The Jack Daniel's World Championship Invitational Barbecue is one of the most prestigious barbeque competitions in the world. Teams come from across the United States and around the world to compete.
To qualify for “The Jack,” U.S. teams must have already won a competition in which 50 or more teams participated, or they must have won a competition of at least 25 teams that has been designated a “state championship.” A drawing is then held among the qualifying teams in early September to determine the final competitors.
More than 25,000 barbecue fans, teams and judges gathered in Lynchburg.

Just off the Lynchburg Town Square is Miss Mary Bobo's Boarding House. However it is no longer a boarding house, but a great place to enjoy a real home-cooked meal. Built in 1867 over a natural spring and was used as a traveler's hotel. Miss Mary ran the boarding house just shy of her 102nd birthday. Purchased by Jack Daniels. Today the great grandniece of Jack Daniels continues the long tradition of Southern hospitality, offering heaping bowls served family style.
We had fried chicken, meatloaf, potatoes, green beans, candied apples, fried okra, broccoli rice casserole, rolls, sweet tea and chocolate pie. Yummy.

This is the spring that started it all.
Happy Fall Y'all

We visited my sister who lives not far from Lynchburg and visited the brewery while there. I was impressed with the springs as it always runs. Thanks for the pics. Wil
ReplyDeleteThey have changed things since we were here last. You can now pay and go on a sampling tour even though it's a dry county. Not sure which loop hole that falls under.
